difference b/w assignment and task?

Hi,

tell me what is the difference b/w assignment and task in project
professional . because on internet in many microsoft online information I
see the assignment or task separately.

Navigate to the Gantt Chart view, which is a task view. Look at the list of
activities on the left side of the View. Those are tasks.

Now navigate to the Resource Usage view, which is a resource assignment
view. Look at the list of activities below each resource name. Those are
assignments. They look like tasks, but they are assignments.
