There are quite a few differences. I suggest you start by reading each of
these documents:

New Features that are included in Access 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=208773

Description of new features and enhancements in Access 2002
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=295358

How to use the new features and the new enhancements that are in
Office Access 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=823089

Description of the new features that are included in Microsoft Jet 4.0
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=275561

Note that JET 4.0 is used as the default database engine for Access 2000,
2002 and 2003. Access 97 used JET 3.5x.
