"Calculation Mode Choosing Automatic specifies that a project’
variables should be calculated automatically (as soon as a change i
made). When set to Manual, you will be forced to click the Calculate No
button (also shown in Figure 4-60) to recalculate your project. A coupl
of shortcut keys are tied to manual calculation. To recalculate al
*open projects*, press F9. To recalculate just the *active project*
press Shift+F9."

Could you tell me, what is the difference between the active projec
and Open Project

"All open projects" says to recalculate all open projects when either
an automatic or manual calculation is done. This option is selected by
default.

"Active project" says to recalculate only the current project when
either an automatic or manual calculation is done.

Please let me know if this helps.

Project allows you to have multiple files *open* (open as many as you need,
just like you would in Word). These are *open* files. You may only edit the
*active* project which is the one you are presently editing. Only one of the
*open* files is the *active project*
