Difference between Visio Application and Visio Drawing Control?

I try to start addons from Visio application as well as Visio Drawing Control.

I could start the addons successfully when I invoke Visio application only
(without loading visio drawing control through some application)

I could start addons successfully when I invoke visio drawing control
through my application (without opening visio application even once before
that)

1) Problem comes when I try to start addon through loading visio drawing
control in my application but having a visio application running at the same
time. The error I get here is, "Method '~' of object '~' failed".

2) Also I face problems when I try to launch a visio application externally
and start an addon through that, if there is a visio drawing control loaded
previously in some application. The error I get here is,
"<VI_RunAddon>:Error -2147417851 : Method 'Run' of object 'IVAddon' failed "

In both cases I try to run an addon. Pls help me regd this.
