difference in upgrade and full edition

I have a new computer with Vista loaded on it. Right now it has MS Works
loaded. I need to get Microsoft Office for my business and my university
work, but I am, unsure if I should get just the upgrade or a full version.
What is the difference in the two, besides the price. I have been told that
I need the Professional Version, but I also see a full version for
academics. I need help. Thanks in advamnce

Hi Yvonne,

I just bought a new computer that had XP Media Center edition 2005, it also
came preloaded with MS Works 8.0 and I purchased Office Professional 2007
Upgrade because the information on the spine of the software box detailed
that the upgrade version would work if I was a licensed user of MS Works
6.0-10 (and/or some other Microsoft products - check out the Office 2007
software box). Office 2007 loaded OK and all programmes are working.

I am no expert but think the upgrade and full version have the same content
and functionality, the upgrade is cheaper but only if you have the qualifying
software products on your computer.

If you are at uni you qualify for an academic licence, which is even
cheaper.
Whatever you choose you should decide which particular version of Office you
require as each version is different
An upgrade is the same as a full version, the price is the only difference,
other than should you ever have to reinstall you need access to the
qualifying application.
