Differences b/w Office 2000 & Office XP

Greetings -

What are the real differences between Office 2000 and Office XP in terms of features and UI enhancements/differences?

I have seen the link to Micrsoft's comparison chart that has been posted here. I generally don't trust those sort of comparisons to give me the information that I really want because they always *seem* to be biased in favor of making the latest product look the greatest, which may or may not be the case. I would much prefer general user/administrator opinion.

Many thanks in advance for the feedback.

If you are thinking of upgrading you may want to set aside a workstation or extra system, then download a trial version of Office 2003. You will see a greater difference in versions from 2000 to latest
We went from 2000 (intermediate upgrades, XP Outlook,Word) to 2003
The upgrades went fine and we are satisfied that we waited to upgrade, especially with the new product additions, One Note and InfoPath
I would not try to download a trial of 03 on a system and then go back to 2000..
there will be trouble for your system, some of the posts concerning this could give you nightmares....

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the situation that we're in precludes us from choosing the Office 2003 option. We purchased new licenses for Office before 2003 had been released, and we opted not to buy the Software Assurance add-on they were offering at the time. So we actually have licenses for Office XP, as well as media for this and the 2000 version. So these are really our only two options.

I asked the question originally hoping for some input in order to understand the potential user impact of either choice, however, now I'm starting to wonder why we wouldn't just go ahead and upgrade to Office XP (from 97, in case that wasn't cleay by this time).

Again, thanks for the feedback.
