Different audio sources

I tape phone interviews directly from the phone into a microcassette recorder.
Can I plug the line from the phone into the mic jack on the laptop running
One Note instead of into the microcassette recorder?
Can I connect the recorder to the laptop to transfer audio from recorder to
the laptop after an interview is done?
If so, must it be a digital audio recorder orcan it be a conventional tape
recorder?
Want to know before I buy.
Thanks.

I've not tried this myself, but if the cord from the phone or the output
from the cassette recorder plugs into a normal sound/microphone jack, and
if Windows can otherwise record sound from either/both devices in this
setup, then OneNote should be able to use it.

You can download the trial software at no charge from
http://www.microsoft.com/office/onenote and see if it works before
purchasing.

You'll like the features that OneNote has when recording during a meeting
or notetaking.
