different footnote styles in different sections

I would like to use different footnote styles in different
parts of a document, separated by section breaks; i.e.
using a,b,c in the first section and 1,2,3 in the second
section. I've used Insert->Footnote->Options->Restart each
Section, but no matter how I try, if I change the footnote
style in the first section, it also changes in the second
section. It's either numbers, either letters.
Though footnotes are not in the footer area, I also tried
View->Header and Footer->NOT'Same as previous'.
Could anyone please help me with this?
