Different installation path for 2007 vs. 2003, while upgrading; how to

My desktop (WIN/XP/SP3) has Office/2003 PRO in the default folder on m
C:\ drive:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office and
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Other

Today, I received my Office/2007 PRO Upgrade package.

In this case, I do not wish to overlay the 2003 Office product in th
above C:\ drive folders, but rather upgrade to Office 2007 into a ne
folder path on D:\ drive:
D:\Pgms\Microsoft Office and
D:\Pgms\Microsoft Office Other

Yes, I want to completely remove Office 2003.

Yes, I have the original Office 2003 CD and key.

Do I need to uninstall 2003 first and then upgrade? My presumption i
that “yes” I need to remove Office 2003, load the Office 2007 upgrade C
and that Office 2007 setup will then look for the Office 2003 “key”.

My PC does not have any trial versions of any Office software.

Any thoughts, recommendations, hurdles, safeguards, how to's, etc.

Uninstall Office 2003 after saving your files that are needed and start the Office
2007 installation . When it asks for a qualifying product then just insert the
Office 2003 CD as proof. Install it to whatever location you point the install to

Thanks. I thought so.

I don't have time this evening, but I'll try this weekend.
