Different Odd and Even

Is there a reason that "Different Odd and Even" headers
and footers affects the whole document and cannot be
applied only to a specific section?

If I go to section 3, turn off Different Odd and Even,
then go to section 1, I see that it's off. If I turn it
on and return to section 3, it's on again in section 3!

What's up with that?

scsc,

While in your header and footer properties dialog, be sure
to disconnect the header and footer from the previous
header and footer by clicking Same as previous...

Hi jesse

I think that's the right answer to a different question ;-)

Different odd and even do apply to the whole document, not on a per-section
basis - there's nothing you can do about that.

As for the 'reason' - who knows? But the assumption is obviously that you
are either (eventually - not necessarily on the current printer) printing
duplex or you are aren't, for the whole document. Word makes certain
assumptions about recto/verso and page numbers when you have different odd
and even (and/or mirror margins) set.

If in a particular section of a different odd and even document the headers
and footers are in fact the same on recto and verso, then you simply have to
duplicate them.

That won't help. Paradoxically, although Diff First Page
is a seciton-specific setting, Different Odd/Even is a
document-wide setting. Very annoying but that's how it is.
