I am doing a paper where the first section ( several pages) needs to be numbered in small Roman numerals. The first page should have no number. The second section ( numerous pages) should have Arabic numerals beginning 1 continuing 2, 3, etc.
I have followed the Microsoft directions ("Add different page numbers or number formats to different sections") several times unsuccessfully. I end up with a blank first page with an Arabic 1, and the second page, which should be the first page, begins with Roman i. I haven't even tried to create the second section.
I am using Word 2016.
Any idea where I am going wrong?
