Different reviewers comments merged in Word 2007

I'm using Word 2007 in compatibility mode, my colleagues are using Word 2003.
When I receive a document back from several of them who have each made
comments, all of their comments are the same colour and their
comments/changes are all listed as coming from "Author", so I can't see who
made what changes. I've checked in the track changes options and the colour
is supposed to be set by author, so i am not sure what to do.

Hi Jeff

My guess is that you or your colleagues have ticked the box that takes out
personal data from a document, and that includes removing the name of the
reviewer.

In Word 2003, this is at Tools > Options > Security at "Remove personal
information from file properties on save". Ask them to un-tick that box, and
Word will no longer convert their user names to "Author".

In Word 2007, the setting is at Pizza button > Word Options > Trust Center >
Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options.

And to answer the un-asked question, no, there is no way to get Word to
re-ascribe "Jim Smith" to the revisions made by "Author".

Hope this helps.
