Different timescales in one view

I wonder if someone could help with a query I have.

One of my colleagues has a project that has a lot of activity in the first
few months and then one long task that covers several months.

He would like to be able to show all the detail for the first part of the
project but not have the print scan several pages for the rest. Is it
possible to have different timescales or zoom levels on the same view of the
Gantt chart.

I'm doubtful myself, but thought I would ask anyway

Hi Carl,

I'm sorry, that is not possible. A question similiar to yours was asked
on 30 August in this newsgroup. See the thread titled "Split Timescale"

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Carl,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

As you mention printing, why not print in 2 or 3 sessions? Scale the
timescale to the first part and in the File/Print dialog, enter the dates.
Repeat with a different zoom level for the long task, and again for the
remainder.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
