Different Version of Office Xp Professional

I am looking into purchasing Office Xp Professional, but I have seen versions
for 2002, 2003, etc. What are the differences in the versions? What is the
latest version of Office Xp out there?

The Office XP suite contains Word 2002, Excel 2002, etc. Many people
(myself included) use Office XP and Office 2002 interchangably, but
technically "XP" only applies to the suite and "2002" for the individual
programs within the suite. This can be confusing.

Office 2003 is a separate, and newer, program.

Just to note:

Microsoft Office XP is a specific version of Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office 2002 and Microsoft Office XP is the same version of Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office XP Professional is a specific suite of Microsoft Office XP that includes some applications
that other suites do not. For example, Microsoft Access XP

The latest version that is available (to purchase) is Microsoft Office 2003 Editions.

The latest (unreleased) version which is in development is Microsoft Office 12 (due out in 2006?).

And depending on what version of Windows you are running, the latest version of Microsoft Office that you can
install and run on your computer is different.

For users with Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 3) or Windows XP (Home or Professional) or later...
The latest that you can install and run is Microsoft Office 2003 Editions.

For users with Windows 98, Windows 98 SE (Second Edition), Windows Me (Windows Millennium Edition), or Windows
NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 6), Windows 2000 or later...
The latest that you can install and run is Microsoft Office XP.

And should there be any users out there, I'll mention it:

For users with Windows 95 or later:
The latest that you can install and run is Microsoft Office 2000.

Did you try clicking on the link that Mike provided?

And please, please, don't go downloading one program on top of another
trying to "fix" the problem. Remember the story about the Princess and the
Pea?That pea didn't go away just because there were lots of mattresses on
top of it. Neither will your problem.
