Differing methods for handling comments between versions of WORD 2K

Is there a way, other than putting the work group on the
exact same version of WORD 2K, to configure a newer
version of WORD 2K to handle comments the same way that an
older version of WORD 2K would handle comments?

WORD 2K ver 9.0.3821. SR-1 for example, presents
highlighted text to indicate the location of a comment
while version 10.xxx uses "thought bubbles". Is there a
way to cause version 10.xxx to use highlighted text
instead?
