Hello,
We are currently using Project Server 2003 without using Managed Time
Periods which sometimes causes differences in actual work on the plan
versus the actual work protected fields because Project Managers have
the ability to manipulate tasks in the Project Plan. We have one task
that was accidentally deleted (a couple weeks ago) and needs to be
recreated and pushed back to the resources time sheets using overwrite
actuals. We only want this one task to be pushed back to WebAccess
overwriting actuals for the singular task..
We tested the scenario and found the following: We created a two task
plan (task 1 and task 2) and assigned 6 hours of work to each task.
Actual work and Actual work protected on both tasks were originally 0
hours. We then added 6 hours of actual work within the plan to both
tasks. Now we wanted to push the actual work entered for task 2 to
the enterprise resource assigned. We selected task2, selected
Collaborate / Publish / Republish Assignments for selected task (only
task 2 was showing) and clicked on Overwrite actuals options. It
successfully pushed the 6 hours for only task 2 to the resource in web
access and did not push any hours for task 1.
However, now, when we look at the actual project plan, both task 1 and
task 2 have synchronized their work, actual work, and actual work
protected fields. Therefore, now on the original task 1, the plan
shows actual work 6 hours, actual work protected 6 hours but in Web
Access, task 1 does not show hours in Web Access.
Is there a way to push actuals for just selected tasks without
affecting the actual work/actual work protected balance on other
tasks? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Trish
