Digital signature eror

I get the following error message when opening a message
with a digital signature.

"The Certificate Revocation List needed to verify the
signing certificate is either unavailable or it has
expired."

Microsoft KB article 278207 suggests editing the
registry. I have made these edits to no avail using
DWords 1 and 2. I have also deleted the registry entry,
also to no avail.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you
