Digitizer Tablet for desktop computer?

Anyone have any experience using OneNote with a Digitizer Tablet on a
desktop computer? I'd like to hear any feedback you might have. Been looking
at them on NewEgg, they range in price from $50 to $400

Thanks,

Assuming the device's drivers work in Windows, OneNote will see the
external pen and treat it like a mouse.

However, OneNote will not be able to convert your handwriting into text nor
will you be able to index or search your Notes contents. These features
are only available if OneNote is running on a Tablet PC. On a non-Tablet
PC, anything that is "written" with a mouse or external pen device will be
treated as a picture.

Chris,
I had an old (ca 1998) Wacom UD 6x8 inch serial interface tablet lying
around, and since getting my new tablet pc, thought I would try hooking it up
to my desktop. The specific model number of mine was UD-0608 R "Digitizer
II". I was able to find Win XP drivers for the ancient slate at Wacom's site
and, once hooked up, OneNote recognized it and was quite happy. These old
Wacom tablets were the standard for high end graphics work and support
pressure sensitive pens, and even some pen driven macro functions, etc. I
have seen them on E-Bay and if you're willing to take a chance you might find
a very nice solution very inexpensively. Best of luck, Mike
