G3 - OS 9.1 - XL 2000

My keyboard (actually both becasue the same thing is happening with a spare)
has a mind of its own - in the last few days (I must have done something
unknowingly) the left, right, up and down keys no longer move me from one
cell to another - instead they simply scroll the spreadsheet a row or column
at a time according to which key is pressed

A quick look at Help did not reveal anything but there must be a setting
somewhere

Most frustrating - actually it's worse that that.
What have I done and how can I undo it?
I doubt that pulling out what little hair I have left will do any good and
stroking my beard doesn't help!

I suppose it's XL:2001 ;-)

Yes, that is an undocumented (I believe) trick. "Control-F14" should bring
things back the way they were.

You toggled the scroll lock. With XLv.X and XL2004 you'll see a little
green "LED" on the status bar next to "SCRL". With XL01 (which I'm
assuming you're using, not XL2000), I think SCRL appears in the status
bar when the scroll lock is on.

Type Shift-F14 to toggle it off.

Actually, you can use any modifier key (Command, Control, or Shift) with
F14 except the Option key.
