directory select box in file open dialog window

In the file open dialog window for opening a file, if I click the V button
associates with the directory select box to show the directry tree, the
office software became frozen. How do i fix the problem. The problem occurs
in almost all MS office programs, e.g. powerpoint, word etc.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
