Directory Service Currently Unavailable

I have exactly one file that suddenly will not print. Everytime I try I get
the message that the Directory Service is Currently Unavailable. All other
files still print normally. Can anyone tell me how to correct this one file?
It's a manual that I'm working on and I need to get it done.

I've never seen that error before. Are you printing it to your 'usual'
printer? If not, it suggests an incompatible or slightly corrupt printer
driver.

If this is to your usual printer, then it suggests a partially corrupt
document. Try using Open and Repair to see if that sorts the problem. If
not, use SaveAs and choose XML from file types. Close the XML, open it and
SaveAs back as a Word document. (Use a copy of the document for this test
though.)

Thanks for that info but I can't find anything listed as XML in my Save As
drop down list. I forgot to mention that I am using Office Standard 2007. I
tried saving it as just a doc. but still won't let me print. I am using my
usual printer (I only have one) and HP has already walked me through
replacing the driver for it and their diagnostic program shows no problems
with the printer. As I said, it will print every other file I have just not
this one.

I have never seen a Word 2007 installation that doesn't have Save As Type
option for XML Word Document. Are you sure it isn't listed under Save As
Type when you press F12? The whole structure of a Word2007 document is XML
components zipped together and given a docx extension.

I did find the XML in Save As but it still won't let this file print -
either as the XML or resaved as DOCX format. I'm beginning to think the
entire program is corrupt. A lot of the time when I click on SAVE it starts
running the SETUP application! I don't have any idea what to do with this
and Microsoft only offers support if I pay for it - which I think is
ridiculous. Don't they trust their own programs?

Definitely is not a sound installation. Have you tried the Office
Diagnostics?
