DirectX 9.0b End-User Runtime - What's the Security Issue?

The Microsoft Updates for my Windows XP Home Edition
indicate that the update to DirectX 9.0b End-User Runtime
will solve some security issue. All of the links I've
gone to from there in trying to find out what the
security issue involves lead to nothing but hype about
how this will improve visuals especially in games, which
I am not a player of. Anybody know what the security
issue is and whether I should download and install this
item, as someone who is not a gameplayer?
