Disable AVG's Outlook intergration

I can't read or edit my emails in Outlook 2007 as the read/edit pane doesn't
come up. I have read that I need to disable AVG's Outlook integration but I
don't know how to do this and where to find the AVG Control Center.

Uninstall AVG.
Reinstall AVG *but* this time do a custom install.
Do NOT include their e-mail scanning module.

Simply disabling e-mail scanning in AVG still has e-mail traffic pass
through through transparent proxy. It just doesn't interrogate that
traffic. Just disabling e-mail scanning also means AVG bitches about
the disabled feature in its tray icon. So reinstall without the e-mail
scanner module and AVG won't interrogate e-mail (a superfluous
protection) and it won't bitch about the module being disabled.
