disable FP Extensions

After uploading Frontpage 2003, I can no longer get into my FTP account for a
website that I use HomeSite for. After going through the "Help" section of
FP which said to uncheck the 'Browse-time Web Components', I still cannot
access my FTP site. The webpage (after trying to log into the FTP site) says
that the FP Extentions need to be disabled.
Any suggestions would be great...

Your web host allows you to either use the FP extensions or FTP to edit/upload your site but not
both.

If you want to edit or publish your site with FP then you need to the FP extensions, and not use FTP
(HomeSite).

Is there a way to use Frontpages for one website and HomeSite for another by
disabling the FP extensions manually (both sites are at different web
hosts)...or is it one or the other? I prefer to use Homesite at this point,
but I'd love to have access to both. If I can't use both, then I need to
remove FP from my system in order to allow FTP to work from my system...right?

You can use FrontPage on one site, and Homesite on the other without any
problems. FTP will work on your system with or without FrontPage
present. But avoid using FTP with a FrontPage website.

Great, so I need to disable the FP extensions, right? (At least this is what
the MS Explorer page says when I tried to open up my FTP site) So, when I
follow the directions on how to do this thru the FP Help, it still will not
allow FTP to load up on MS Explorer. What is the trick to have both FP and
FTP available on one machine?
Thanks for your help here...I have faith that through your responses I can
get back to work...

Your hosting package may be different - my host allows FTP and FrontPage
extensions on the same site simultaneously. Some hosts will disable FTP
if extensions are in use, since using FTP on an extended site will
corrupt the extensions unless you are very, very, very careful. I, and
most FrontPage MVPs, always advise not to use FTP on an extended site
except in exceptional circumstances.

As far as your own PC is concerned, FTP and HTTP publishing are
perfectly OK, but NOT to the same website.
Your Homesite website and FrontPage website should be on different
hosting packages.
