Hi
I don't know what triggered this (the last patchday was a while ago
and we didn't install any patches on the MS project server or client)
but all of a sudden, when you start up the project client, then select
the appropriate server, in addition to the login screen we get the
standard Internet Explorer warning page you get when submitting a form
on a non secure site ("When you send information to the Trusted sites,
it might be possible for others to see that information. Do you want
to continue? .... In the future do not show this message). The
Checkbox "In the future do not show this message" is even checked but
unless you press Yes, nothing goes. Then it is okay until the next
time you boot your machine.
What is merely an annoyance for the user quickly becomes a major
stopgap because we have automated project publishing in place.. and
that task runs as a service so there's no UI and nobody to click away
that dialog.. and since there's no UI on screen, the usual mechanisms
(finding window handle, finding the control id, using SendKeys or
PostMessage) to deal with annoying popups do not work - so I need to
find a way to get back to the standard behavior or our automated
publishing once again becomes stuck (we had a security issue once that
brought up a macro warning but we fixed that by adjusting the macros
so that no warning would be shown anymore).
the appropriate url is in the trusted sites and I even went as far as
to modify the settings for the trusted sites to set "Submit non-
encrypted form data" to Enable rather than it's default (Prompt).. yet
the prompt is still there.
Does anybody have an idea how I can get rid of this popup reliable and
persistent across reboots and user accounts?
Regards
Stephan
