disable only nickname feature in outlook 2003

Hi,
I'm trying to find a link/resource/registry setting where I can
turnoff/disable nickname (outlook nickname cache) in Outlook 2003 but keep
autocomplete feature on. Is this possible and if so may I know the settings.
We are using Exchange Server 2000 and I believe there is no settings on the
server side to control the outlook client application behaviour related to
nickname. The reason behind is when somebody has left the organisation, the
user's outlook cache does not clear automatically and my boss would always
like only active accounts/email addresses to appear while he is typing a new
email.
Appreciate any source /feedback on the above.

Outlook 2003 doesn't have a nickname feature, as far as I know, but if it
does, the information is kept in the same file as the autocompleton data, so
turing off one would disable both. Perhaps you could explain what you
believe to be the nickname feature.

Thanks for your email. Let me clarify what I meant by nickname.

When I click "new message" and next to the "To" button I type few
characters. Outlook automaticall comes with recommended names saved from
outlook cache (nickname). The file names which contain this list is by
default stored in local machine with *.nk2 format. This is what I meant by
nickname or outlook cache whatever you like to call it. How do I prevent the
outlook 2003 client NOT to use this feature (The feature is by design from
Microsoft and look for some registry settings to turn this off). Since
Outlook 2003 client is also being used in client server mode with Exchange
2000, I do NOT want to turnoff the autocomplete feature (i.e. after I type a
name and hit "TAB" key where outllok tries to resolve the address by probably
looking at the Exchange Server address book). Is my understanding correct and
hope I've explained the scenario as requested.

That's Autocompletion, not nicknames.

Click Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options and uncheck the
box labeled "Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields"

Since Outlook 2003 client is also being
used in client server mode with Exchange 2000, I do NOT want to
turnoff the autocomplete feature (i.e. after I type a name and hit

looking at the Exchange Server address book).

This is autoresolution and is controlled by the checkbox labeled "Automatic
name checking" on the same dialogue page.

It is a simple change but completely confused with the autocompletion and
autoresolution terminology. Thanks for the simplified explanation/breakdown
of each terminology which helped me now understand why I couldn't find the
right articles/knowledge in microsoft!! I was researching Msoft knowledge
base/technet using the nickname word which gave a lot of inform for .nk2 file
but no reference of how to turn it off !!
