Disable reduced functionality mode for Office

The computer I have came with the limited use Office program. I have used it
50 times and now it is in reduced fuctionality mode. I have separately
purchased a full license for Office XP. I uninstalled the Office that came
with my computer and installed the new Office XP license but the old reduced
functionality Office still comes up. I deleted the whole Office directory
and installed the new Office XP license but the reduced functionality mode
still comes up. Obviously, the files contolling functionality are located
somewhere other than the Office directory. How do I fix this problem?

Thanks

You should not uninstall Office by deleting the Office folder.
You should uninstall by clicking on Start | Control Panel |
Add/Remove Programs | Microsoft Office 2003 | Remove.

The first time I tried to take care of this problem, I did uninstall Office
through Control Panel|Add/Remove, etc. Then I installed Office from my
licensed CD. The reduced functionality message came up when I launched Word.
Since that didn't work, then I tried to delete the Office folder and then
install Office from the CD. That didn't work either. There apparently are
files that Uninstall does not actually remove that are causing newly
installed software to be effected.

Browse to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Data" folder and rename the file
"opa11.dat" to "opa11.old". Does that help?

Hi Garfield-n-odie,

I tried your suggestion below, but the reduced functionality mode still
comes up when I launch and Office app. I did notice that when I uninstalled
Office that the opa11.dat file is erased. There must be some other hidden
files that are part of Office that are not being removed when using
uninstall.

Something interesting is that when I installed the new licensed software, I
changed the licensee information to see if it kept the new info, but when I
launch the software, the old licensee info is still there. It is not being
removed either using uninstall.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.
