Is there any way to disable the feature of Office 2007 where accessing or
opening files in a SharePoint library or other web-based server results the
Office application adding a URL-style shortcut to the folder into the My
Network Places area?
There is a setting in group policy called “Do not add shares of recently
opened documents to My Network Places†(KB242578), but setting it does not
stop Office 2007 applications from creating these “recently-used†shortcuts.
I want to be able to have full control over what gets added to My Network
Places and this behavior by Office clutters it up.
