Disable the conversion tool?

We would like to move forward to Access 2002, but there are concerns from our
IT department that any other database that we would come in contact with
would be converted or damaged.

My questions are:
Is it possible to not install the conversion tool?
Is there a way to disable the conversion tool?

what "other" data bases? access??
convert from what?
if your are using access97 and want to upgrade to 2002,
you will have to convert in order to add to or change the
db. the filing systems are different and not compatable.
you can open a 97 db in 2000 or higher but it is look see
only unless you convert to the new file system.

No.

Is there a way to disable the conversion tool?

No. However, one can suppress the Convert/Open Access 97 database dialog
window by adding a key in the Windows Registry. For more information,
