Disabling Add-Ins - Outlook 2007 - help

When I try to disbale add-ins in Outlook 2007, I can't turn off the last 4
add-ins under "tools/trust Center/add-ins/manage com add-ins".

When I try to disable Mobile Service, VBA, and Windows Search Email Indexer
I get an error msg "the conected state of office add-ins registered in
HKEY_Local_Machine cannot be changed". Can these services not be disabled?
I'm trying to speed up the SUPER SLOW performance of 2007. Appreciate any
info.

My guess would be that you are runing on Windows Vista then?

Note that these add-ins will not affect Outlook performance unless the
indexer isn't done with the initial indexing process yet.

Anyway;

You can set the LoadBehavior to 0 in the registry;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

For 32-bit add-ins on a 64-bit system;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

yes running Vista. Indexing has already been completed (really not much to
index anyway yet) so I'm just trying any way possible to speed it up to make
it usable. Will disabling these hinder performance futher?

Either enabling or disabling them wouldn't noticible affect permormance. You
can disable the Mobile Service if you don't use it. VBA only runs on demand
so that doesn't affect anything. The indexer could give you some overhead
but not noticible if the indexer has been completed already.

What account type are you using? Was this a clean installation of both Vista
and Office or did you upgrade them?

I appreciate the help. This is an OEM installed version of Vista and Small
Office 2007 on a Dell laptop with 2 gig ram. Using one pop3 account only at
this time. I noticed many people are having this problem as well, although
some have been able to solve it and some haven't.

I finally found a fix. I removed Outlook Addins Setup (Cyberlink) in
control panel/remove programs. This is a fix from Dell support. Outlook now
works 100x faster. I also have all add-ins disabled except search indexer.

Just curious; for what functionality does Cyberlink has to integrate with
Outlook? Either way; I'm not surprised that disabling that 3rd party add-in
solved your issue.

I have no idea what the purpose of that integration is. I have not
researched it further at this point. Good question.
