Disabling an area of a slide from user input

I would like to lock an area of a slide so that users are unable to add an
object in that part of the slide. I would like to add a footer which is a
text box coloured white with a logo on the right hand side. The rest of the
text box is blank. I want to make sure users are not able to add any object
in the footer area of any slide on top of the footer that I have added. I
would ask if anyone has any ideas on how I can do this. I am happy to write
a VBA programme if this is a way to do this but I can't find a command that
would do the trick. Any help would be much appreciated.

There's no simple way to do this.

One way would be to write an Add In that trapped the slideselectionchange
event an moved any shapes in the locked area. The Add In would need to be on
all PCs though
