disabling bullets

ellen cohen

does anyone know how to disable bullets and/or
numbers...in word 2003...i tried to get dates in one
column and then what happened on that date in the next
column, and somehow this engaged the bulleting, and some
autonomic system kicked in...how does one overide these
cumbersome "helps" when they are not needed or are
overkill...i'll appreciate any help you can give me...

Hi Ellen

Tools > AutoCorrect Options. Click the Auto Format as you type tab. Un-tick everything you see unless you're certain that you know
what it is and that you need it. In particular, un-tick everything in the sections marked "Apply as you type" and "Automatically as
you type", except perhaps "Set left- and first indent with tabs and backspaces".

Hope this helps.

Ellen,

I don't have Word2003 yet so I am not certain. Similiar annoyances are
deactivated in Word2002 with Tools>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat As You
Type>Apply As You Type and uncheck all.
