When opening an email attached Word 2000 doc, I sometimes
get a box asking if I want to merge changes with the
original document. If I select the button labeled 'No,
don't ask again', it has no affect - the next time I open
the doc I get the same prompt.
Also, if the original document is located on the sender's
machine or somewhere else on the company network, I get a
delay (presumably while Word trys to find it). This delay
can be *really* long if I'm working on my home network
instead of at work. I've also noticed that I don't get
delay if I unplug my network cable before opening the
document.
Is there a way to disable the merge process so I don't get
the prompt at all? If not, is there a way to make
the 'No, don'ask me again' work?
