Disabling Macros

MS Word 2003:

I have a bunch of documents with macros and the computeris set up for medium
security so I get a popup requesting to enable or disable the macros. I
always enable except for when I am converting the PDF to avoid macro errors.
However, when I disable the macros, my file opens up with the control toolbox
bar on and the excel toolbar on. These are the only times that these
toolbars are ever turned on. Is there a way of preventing this from
happening. Or can you explain why this is happening.

This is a consequence of using tools from the control toolbox in documents.
The tools there are intended primarily for web page creation. Use instead
form fields from the forms toolbar and/or userforms.

I did not know I used a control toolbox item in the document. The only thing
I have it a bunch of checkboxes that states they are form checkboxes. Is
there a way of doing a search to find what may be in the document?

If they're check box form fields, then this is a different situation.

If you press ALT+F9 the field construction will be displayed. If they are
controls they will display as
{ CONTROL Forms.CheckBox.1 \s }
and if they are form fields they will display as
{ FORMCHECKBOX }

It must be a different problem because when I do Alt-F9 and search for form,
I see all the form checkboxes and when I search for control, it comes up with
nothing.

So I am not using any controlbox features but I still get an error when
converting to PDF and the controlbox toolbar and exit design view toolbar (I
thought it was an excel toolbar but it was not) show up.

Therefore, converting to PDF is somehow turing design mode on.
