Disappearance of all menus

Unexpectedly, the appearance of Word 2000 has changed.

All of the menus and toolbars have disappeared, and are
replaced by a ruler at the top, and sliders at right and
bottom.

I suspect I have somehow switched to some sort of 'full
screen' view but have no idea how to get back from it?

I'd be grateful for help.

This very common problem in Word 2000 is caused by a damaged Registry key.
