Disappearing button functionality in Word

We keep running into an issue where the cut copy, paste are grayed out from
the Edit tab in MS word 2003. Even the Options and Macro mnues are grayed out
of tools tab. This is user profile related and repairing Office and even
re-installing it didn't solve the issue. The Ctr+v and Ctr+c but we can't use
the buttons

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would suspect registry corruption. Take a look here and pay special
attention to how you delete/rename the Data key:
