Disappearing cursor in certain word docs...

I'm having issues where opening certain Word docs causes
the cursor to disappear. It appears only to be the
insertion point cursor... all other cursor states within
the document will display correctly (resizing a table,
align-left, etc.).

Any ideas as to what this is?
