Disappearing Icons in toolbar!

Office Pro 2003/Word/Excel: Numerous times have added icons to the toolbars.
After completing document and closing, then later reopening to a blank doc.
or one previously saved, the icons disappear and I am back to the basic
toolbar as if Office had just been installed. Strange??? Can anyone help__

It is best to add custom toolbars for personalisations. but either way you
should save the normal template when closing Word. Do you have the prompt to
save the normal template item checked in tools > options > save?

Computers used in some corporate network environments reset the normal
template when a user logs in/out. If that is happening toolbar changes
stored in the normal template will be lost.
