disappearing icons

Running windows 2000, with Office XP sp2. We have several users who will
have Word, Excel in their programs list one day, and next day they are gone.
Executables are still on PC, but all icons/shortcuts to those executables are
gone. We can reinstall, but would rather shortcuts behaved normally and
stayed put. Any suggestions?

Problem with Profile on the PC perhaps? Anyway do Help, Detect and
repair to restore the shortcuts.

it likely isn't related to Office but something you are doing with the
system in question.
