disappearing interactive buttons`

I just created several interactive buttons for the left-hand column on my web
page. They seem to work fine on my PC. However, once published online, any
time a cursor is moved over them, they disappear (or at least change color so
strangely that they can no longer be read). They still work, and upon
clicking one and opening a new page, all the buttons show up again.

Can anyone tell me what I might do to correct this?

do a re-publish.
I think some of the image files the buttons use failed to get uploaded.
