Disappearing tasks - Unusual problem!

Hi guys,

I need help with disappearing tasks from a timesheet. I have rather unusual
problem. I know that there are two reasons for tasks to be removed (1) they
are completed and/or (2) they are no longer defined as "current tasks".

However, there must be another reason because one of our guys can’t see any
tasks (for one particular project only) in his timesheet. He can’t see the
tasks even when he selects “All Taskâ€, the tasks are not completed and they
are not scheduled to finish for some time. He is definitely assigned to those
tasks (he is Committed not Proposed resource!) and I’ve republished the plan
– still nothing. The tasks are also not showing on the list of tasks when he
uses the “Assign myself to an existing task†function. That would suggest
that he is already assigned to them, so why aren’t they showing?

Thank you very much for your help.

Veronika:

Try filtering your view by applying the Using resource filter and selecting
the resource in question. Use the republish feature to republish this users
tasks which should now be the current view. Let us know if anything changes,
and let us know if you see errors in the application event log on your
server.

Hi Gary,

Many Thaks for getting back to me. I've done what you suggested and still no
task are showing in the timesheet. No errors were loged in the event log
either.

Any other suggestions?

In absence of errors, there's the possibility of data corruption. This is
most often caused by illegal characters in project names and resource names.

Hi Gary,

I am not sure what illegal characters could be in the project name. The
project name is one of the simplest we have: FY07 OLC.

The resource name also hasn’t got any unusual characters in his name.

As I am now running out of options, I am thinking about:

• Saving the project locally,
• Deleting it from Project Server
• Importing it back to Project Server.

Do you think this would help? I am worried that if there is some kind of
corruption it will happened again.

Thank you for your help.
