Disc drive D & E

I have up till now recorded music and films no problem on the D drive. i
recently had to restore the computer and now in propertied it is showing both
drive memory as full. I only use D and now despite showing on screen that it
is downloading when i check the dvd or cd there is nothin gon it. I am
running Windows XP Home Edition. Have tried to make sense of some of the
previous answers to similar questions but am techmically ;dumb' sorry
