Disconnecting from network

Doug

I have OneNote installed on an XP machine connected to a SBS 2003 server.
Every day this machine disconnects from the network between 4 pm and 6 pm.
This started after installing OneNote 2003. Does anyone know if this is a
known issue? I've looked at scheduled tasks, run spyware and antivirus in
safe mode and the machine comes up clean.

I'll be installing the latest service pack for OneNote today but just
curious if this has occurred with other installations.

I suspect that's just a coincidence. Does it happen to any other
machines on the network? Any scheduled tasks on the server itself?

Can you still ping the server when the disconnect occurs? Can you
reboot the workstation and reconnect to the server?

Anything in the event viewer on the workstation or the server that might
be relevant?

It is quite odd and probably just a coincidence. I don't suspect its a
OneNote problem but thought I'd try to rule that out.

It happens only on this one machine and this is the only machine with
OneNote. It loses the connection to the server completely. The user has to
reboot to get reconnected. I replaced the NIC a couple weeks ago to see if
that might be the problem. The pc itself is only about a year old - AMD cpu.

There are no scheduled tasks on the workstation and the only scheduled task
on the server is the backup which is set to start at 11 pm.

There's nothing in the server event logs but I'll check the workstation.

Are there any OneNote files on the server? Any reason why OneNote would
need to contact the server to access shared notebooks or anything like
that?
