Discussion View Startup

Can someone help me please. When I open the discussion pane, it always starts
with all threads wide open. I'd love it to start with all threads closed.
is this possible? I searched for a preference but could not find any... at
least easily.

Sadly, no. I'd love to have this feature too. In most of my Discussion tools,
it doesn't matter, but in the few that are organized repositories of
information, I want to see the topics, not the messages. "Collapse All" (in
the View menu) works, but it's not persistant.
