"Disk Full" try to save Excel 2007 file

I am trying to save a large Excel file but continue getting "Disk Full"
errors even though I have 7.1GB, 7.7GB and 80GB on the three different local
harddrives. The csv file from which this is created has 162K rows and 100
cols (I don't know how large the xlsx file will be as I've not successfully
save it yet). However, I have successfully save a similar file of 102K rows
and 100 cols (73MB xlsx file). I have also tried creating a small xlsx file
and overwriting it to no avail.

Is there some restriction to the size of files that can be saved? An idea
what I need to do to be able to save these files (this has happened twice
before and will be neccessary again)?

Thanks,
Dennis

If the drive is formatted as a FAT 32 drive there is a 4 GB file size limit
but with the size of the Excel file I don't think you should be exceeding
that size limit. If the file size does exceed the 4 GB limit it will give a
message like you are getting. NTFS format there is no limit to the file
size. Check the format of the hard drive where you are saving. Right click
on drive letter in My computer (or Computer in Vista) and then left click
properties for the drive format type.

Can't remember if Excel itself has a limit to the spreadsheet that would
mimic the out of hard drive space. I am sure that someone with more Excel
experience than I have will post if there is anything like that.

One other thought is the drive with 7.1 and 7.7 GB of free space. If your
temporary files are being written to them during the spreadsheet creation it
may very well be using enough of the free space that the output file can not
be written successfully. Again, just a thought and may be off base here.
Try to set your temporary files to the 80 GB free drive.

In addition your C (win) drive requires a minimum of 15% free space for
efficient useage of win
