Disk is full error message in Word 2002

David Childers

We have created templates for some documents. Over the last couple of
weeks, people have been having some issues with documents they created
from the templates. While making edits to the documents, when Word
tries to do an automatic save (every 10 minutes by default), we have
gotten error messages about 10 times now. The error message says:

The disk is full. Free some space on this drive, or save the document
on another disk. Try one or more of the following: Close any unneeded
doucments, programs, and windows. Save the document on another disk.

However, once this error appears, it is impossible to save the file
anywhere, using either Save or Save As. We can either close the
document and lose any recent edits-- reopening the document works with
no problems. Alternatively, we can Copy All and then Paste the entire
document into a new blank Word Doc, and then save over the old file.
The files are on a networked drive.

We thought the problem could have been due to form fields in the
template, or protected sections of the template, but removing those did
not help. We have some VB check boxes in the document as well.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

David
