What is the access basic code for taking the current hard disk serial number
and converting it to a string

Nope. That's the >volume< serial #, not the >disk< serial #. They are two
completely different things. For one thing, an end-user can alter the volum
serial #.

In current versions of windows, you can only get the >disk< serial # by
writing a kernel mode driver, I think.
