I don't know about other operating systems, but, assuming that you are
using Windows, you can right-click the disk icon in Windows Explorer,
and then select Format. For floppy disks, it's a quick procedure.
However, if you are referring to formatting a hard disk, more work is
required; for one thing, Windows won't let you format the hard disk
containing its system files.
