Displacement of Comments in Excel

I posted the following on the Excel worksheet board, but did not
receive a response. Maybe it is more appropriate to post my inquiry
here.

Whenever I make comments within spreadsheets in Excel 2000, once the
comments are written and the spreadsheet is closed and reopened, the
comments get displaced to the top of the spreadsheet. Also, the
comments are never viewable once they're displaced --I must reopen the
comments and readjust the view.

Can anyone explain why this happens and what I can do to prevent it
from
continuing?

Any help appreciated.
