Total Beginner
Ok, first off, I am totally new to Access, so my question might seem way too
basic, but after searching through 100s of webpages (ok, maybe a bit
exaggerated) and the online help function, I still couldn't find an answer to
my challenge:
First, the question and then a little background on what I have already done:
Question: I need to be able to see all records in the data access page (just
like in the datasheet view when using access database) when published
online. Currently, I can only see one record at a time, which is bad because
I need to be able to quickly scan through 1000s of records. Even then, just
like in access database, I need to filter it down to 100s of records and see
them simultaneously, not just one record at a time.
Ideal world: This is how it should look - Have a spreadsheet (or datasheet
view) view of all the data using about 1/3 of the webpage with scroll buttons
(basically, it looks exactly like when you insert a spreadsheet object in the
access data page). The other 2/3 of the page should be the individual fields
of one record I select (from the spreadsheet above). The info of each record
should show if I click on a different record in the spreadsheet above. And I
need to be able to edit that in the fields below. That's all.
Here is what I have already done.
* I have set up a database that has over 3000 records now.
* I want to make this database available dynamically on the internet (I have
set up a data access page for online viewing.) so that people can update the
information anytime, anywhere.
This seems like the most basic thing Access database should be able to do -
I just can't seem to figure out how to do it. Any help would be much
appreciated!!!!!!!
